Do YOU Have Employee Discontent?
Author Jim Davis, addresses the topic in The Ranks Are Rankled, in the October 2010 issue of Talent Management. He comments that, “many people were not happy with the much coveted spots they secured when the music stopped”, in reference to the 2008 economy crash and research conducted by Development Dimensions International (DDI) in 2009.
He continues to say that among stagnant workers, 77% cite the economy as the barrier that’s holding them back from growing, advancing or finding a new job.
When the economy improves, look for many of those unhappy employees to be handing in their resignations.
According to Davis, “Organizations may want to increase the availability of training on interpersonal skills. Providing opportunities to increase soft skills increases engagement while also building skills that are critical to team and individual success.”
