Mr. Hood came to Highland in his current position in January 2011.
Before joining HCC, Mr. Hood served as both the Associate Dean and Dean of Corporate Training and Community Education at Kaskaskia College before becoming Interim VP of Instructional Services in March 2007 and then VP of Instructional Services in July 2007, a position he held before coming to HCC.
Mr. Hood holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Southern Illinois University (SIU) in Carbondale in the areas of public relations and communication. He is ABD in his dissertation work toward his Ph.D. with a specialization in Communication Pedagogy with an anticipated completion date of 2011.
Prior to his years at Kaskaskia, Mr. Hood was a full-time lecturer at SIU, Carbondale in the Speech Communication department. Before going to SIU, Tim was a tenured associate professor in the Humanities department at Madisonville Community College in Kentucky. He also has experience outside of education, both in a private business and as an advertising and marketing consultant.
In addition to his administrative duties, Mr. Hood has served as an officer of the Illinois Community College Chief Academic Officers Association (ICCCAO), currently serving as president of the group.
As part of his many duties with Highland, he attends Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) meetings as part of the academic leadership team.
