Two HCC Instructors Named Master Online Teachers
Two Highland Community College instructors, Craig Pence and John Sullivan, have earned the Master Online Teacher designation by completing a comprehensive program through the University of Illinois that provides in-depth knowledge of online course design and instruction. In order to earn the Master Online Teaching Certificate, a student must successfully complete four core courses, one elective course, and an online teaching practicum.
Instructors that complete this training understand and capitalize on the strengths of the online medium and the capabilities of current technology to provide a quality learning experience. The additional education often results in a better course for online learners with more engaging online content, learning activities, and student assessments.
Instructor Craig Pence offers most of Highland’s accounting classes online. Self-paced accounting courses taught by Craig Pence allow online learners to enroll at any time. Instructor John Sullivan teaches elementary organic chemistry in an online format. Highland’s online classes are available to students in the Highland districts and anywhere in the world through the Illinois Virtual Campus and Illinois Community Colleges Online (ILCCO).
Highland students can obtain an online degree or certificate by working with an advisor to access HCC online courses and courses from other Illinois Community Colleges.
