Highland Trustees Approve Contracts and Reorganize New Board

FREEPORT � The Highland Community College Board of Trustees approved a two-year extension of President Dr. Joe Kanosky�s contract and a three-year agreement with the Highland Community College Custodial/Maintenance Union Local 1957 during their monthly meeting held April 26th. funny cat pictures

Following its annual evaluation of the president, trustees voted to extend Dr. Kanosky�s contract for two years. By this action, Dr. Kanosky�s contract now runs through June 30, 2015. funny pictures

The remaining terms and conditions of the contract remain unchanged at this time. funny images

�The Board of Trustees believes Dr. Kanosky�s excellent work as president of the college was deserving of this action and vote of confidence,� said HCC Board Chair David Shockey. funny photos

The agreement with the Highland Community College Custodial/Maintenance Union Local 1957 includes salary increases of 2% in each of the three years of the contract. The previous one-year contract with the union included no increase in salaries.

Upon concluding the business of the current board, Trustees adjourned the old board and reorganized the new board as a result of the April 5th election. Dr. Steven Jennings, of Freeport, Whittney Zumdahl, of Baileyville, and Douglas Block, of Pearl City, were seated to begin their six-year terms as trustees. Chelsey Kaiser was also seated as student trustee and will serve a one-year term.

The newly formed board then reorganized by electing David Shockey, of Ridott to a second term as chair and Douglas Block as vice-chair. Terri Grimes, of Freeport was re-elected as secretary.

Trustees approved three naming opportunities with respect to facilities in the Ray and Betty Stamm Health Science Nursing Wing following generous donations to the HCC Foundation�s Growing for tomorrow�Changing lives today major gift campaign in support of the new wing. The Betty L. Stamm Simulation Lab; the James �Jim� Schneiderman Physical Assessment Lab; and the Bill and Lois Fieldsend Student Lounge will all be dedicated in the coming months.
