Highland Concert Band welcomes guest saxophonist Keith Zimmerman

FREEPORT On Friday, May 4, the Highland Concert Band will perform their Spring Instrumental Concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Ferguson Fine Arts Theatre. This year, director Scott Stich is pleased to announce a special guest performance from saxophonist Keith Zimmerman.

Zimmerman presently teaches at Illinois Wesleyan University, and is a well-respected private instructor in saxophone and clarinet. He also has over 39 years of experience with the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) as a saxophone auditioner for the all-state festival bands.

The Highland Concert band will accompany Zimmerman on What a Wonderful World by George David Weiss and Bob Thiele, Come Sunday Morning by Duke Ellington and arranged by Paul Murtha, and also the first and third movements of Tribute to Rudy Wiedoeft arranged by Gunther Schuller. The ensemble will also perform Scramble by Todd Stalter, Variations on a Korean Folk Song by John Barnes Chance and Wild Nights by Frank Ticheli.

This concert is free and open to the public.
