HCC Foundation to host 'The Great Gatsby'

FREEPORTOn Saturday, August 18, 2012, guests at the home of Dr. Keith and Mrs. Diane Martin will find themselves magically transported back to the Roaring Twenties as part of a charity fundraiser for Highland Community College, entitled "The Great Gatsby." Throughout the property and home built in 1924, attendees will mingle amongst period-era cars, flappers, dapper gentlemen- all in the art-deco/black-and-white/speak-easy tradition of "The Great Gatsby." funny halloween pictures

"The Great Gatsby" begins at 5:30p.m. with a silent auction. Live auction will begin at 7:00p.m., with local auctioneer and HCC nursing graduate, Doug Munda of Munda and Associates, looking for the highest bidder. Tickets are $50 per person and include complimentary food and spirits. They may be purchased by contacting the HCC Foundation at 815.599.3413. funny pictures

Proceeds from the event will benefit the HCC Foundation's Growing for tomorrow...changing lives today campaign that supports the Ray and Betty Stamm Health Science Nursing Wing and Nursing and Allied Health programs, as well as the wind turbine technology initiative, additional occupational training and educational programs, and scholarships for students. funny images

The Martin property is known throughout the area for its elegance and splendor from when it was built by the Rawleigh family to its alleged links to the Chicago Mafia. The Martins have restored the home and grounds to their original glory while adding special touches to make it their own. funny photos

Individuals and businesses that donate an auction item with a value greater than $250 will receive one complimentary ticket to attend the Shindig. Donors and items donated will receive special notice in the program. Sponsorships are available, and cash contributions are welcomed.

To purchase tickets, donate an auction item, inquire about sponsorship opportunities, or for more information, please contact the Foundation Office at 815.599.3413.
