HCC offers preparation services for upcoming Job Fair

FREEPORT—In preparation for the annual Job Fair, Highland Community College will offer walk-in resume assistance sessions and two presentations entitled “What Do I Wear? Attire For Making a Good Impression.” These events will help students and community members develop a resume, learn about interview etiquette, and receive tips on dressing for success.

As part of the resume assistance sessions, HCC Career Services will have laptops and a printer available. Please bring an employment history to assist the resume developers. Participants in these sessions are also encouraged to bring a flash drive to save their finished resume. Flash drives will be available for a $5 fee.

Participants may attend at any time, but please allow an hour for services. The following walk-in resume assistance sessions will be available in room H-209 of the Student/Conference Center:

• March 26, 1:30 to 4 p.m.
• March 27, 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m.
• March 28, 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m.
• March 29, 9 to 11 a.m., 2 to 5 p.m.

On March 28 and April 1, Highland will also be sponsoring a program entitled “What Do I Wear? Attire For Making a Good Impression.” The first session will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in room H-210 of the Student/Conference Center. A daytime session will also be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 1, in H-210.

As part of the session, Amanda Jacinto of Hughes Resources, Jody Gowin of Berner Food and Beverage, and Kay Brooks of FHN will facilitate an an interactive discussion for job seekers to understand the importance of professional dress when making first impressions, and how to prepare a work wardrobe on a budget using local resources.
