Inaugural presentation of the 'Last Lecture Series' featuring Alan Wenzel

FREEPORT—Beginning this spring, Highland Community College will sponsor an annual faculty lecture that will feature a Highland instructor speaking from the premise that this would be the last lecture that he or she would deliver. This “Last Lecture Series” will allow the faculty member to provide an educational and inspiring message to students, staff and the general public in a classroom environment.

Retiring speech/communications instructor Alan Wenzel will serve as the first lecturer in this series starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, in the Marvin-Burt Liberal Arts Center, room M-120. Seating will be limited. This event is free and open to the public.

Wenzel has served as a full-time faculty member at HCC for 40 years and has directed Highland Leadership programming for over 20 years. During his years at Highland, he has taught a variety of classes from Interpersonal Communication to Public Speaking, Argumentation to Leadership and Nonverbal Communication to Film Appreciation. Wenzel has also conducted classes and programs for community groups.
