'Grace and Glorie' comes to the HCC stage

The Highland Community College Theatre Department will present Tom Ziegler's "Grace and Glorie." Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9; 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Ferguson Fine Arts Theatre in the Fine Arts Center.

Grace is a feisty 90-year-old cancer patient, who checked herself out of the hospital and returned to her beloved homestead cottage to die alone. Her volunteer Hospice worker, Glorie, is a Harvard MBA recently transplanted to the rural backwater area in the Blue Ridge Mountains from New York.

Glorie is tense, unhappy and guilt-ridden. As she attempts to care for and comfort the cantankerous Grace, the sophisticated Glorie gains new perspectives on values and life's highs and lows.

"Grace and Glorie" is under the direction of Mark Jansen; David Vrtol as technical director; Linda Foat as costume design and Chloe Jansen as lighting design.

Tickets go on sale on Sept. 15 at the Highland Box Office. Tickets are $6 for students; $8 for seniors and $10 for adults. For reservations call 815.599.3718 or visit for more information.
