HCC baseball coach Don Tresemer to be inducted into Luther College Hall of Fame

Don Tresemer, a 1969 graduate of Luther College, and current coach and part-time instructor at Highland, will be inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding efforts on the baseball diamond. The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11 as part of the Luther College Homecoming weekend.

"I am very excited and happy for Don and his family - all Luther College graduates," said Pete Norman, HCC Athletic Director. "I cannot think of a more deserving individual. His support and loyalty to Luther College and Luther Athletics is phenomenal and quite evident with many of his Highland student-athletes transferring on to Luther College to continue their education."

While at Luther College, Tresesmer was a four-year starter and letter winner, Tresemer played on three Iowa Conference championship baseball teams (1966, 1968, 1969) for Luther College. Serving as a co-captain his senior year, he helped lead Luther to the NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament, and was later named team co-MVP. That same year he was a first-team all-Iowa Conference selection after posting a league batting average of .375.

At the conclusion of his career, he held single season school records for doubles (5), errorless games in a season (23), and most times on base (39). He held the school record for career runs scored (49) and ranked second for career hits (50).

Since 2005, Tresemer has been the head baseball coach and part-time mathematics instructor at Highland Community College.

Tresemer and his wife Sandie reside in Freeport.
