The HCC Global Task Force, Boyer Colloquium and Highland Community College will host a lecture and discussion entitled, "Ebola and Other Dangerous, Contagious Diseases" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 17 in the Student/Conference Center, Room H201.

The lecture and discussion will be facilitated by Robert Geller, MD, MS, FACP, FIDSA, Infectious Disease Specialist and Vice-President of Medical Affairs for FHN.

Robert Geller, MD

In recent months, the country and the rest of the world faced fears of an outbreak of Ebola, and while these fears have started to die down, there are still concerns about possible pandemics. The question bears asking, "Should we be worried?" This lecture will allow members of the community to hear from and interact with an expert in the field of infectious diseases.

Dr. Geller works with area health departments to identify and address infectious illnesses as quickly as possible, because the best way to fight disease is to prevent it. Dr. Geller is a member of professional associations such as Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society; Fellow of the American College of Physicians; member of the American College of Physician Executives and a member of the European Society for Microbiology and Clinical Infectious Diseases.

The HCC Global Task Force's purpose is to encourage all aspects of international education. The Boyer Colloquium Committee believes that if communities comprehend the issues, the history of previous decisions and ramifications of prior actions, they will be better positioned to make informed decisions.
