Highland Community College to present spring choral music concert

The Highland Music Department proudly presents their annual Spring Choral Concert beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday April 12, on the Fine Arts Theatre stage located in the Ferguson Fine Arts Center. The program will include performances by the Highland Chamber Singers, the Highland Chorale and the HCC Youth Choir.

The concert will include guest artists and HCC Alumni Elvert Williams and Quynetta Sanders; Patrick Beckman, former HCC faculty member; John Hartman, HCC faculty member and Sarah Long, choreographer, plus dancers from Studio 121. The HCC Youth Choir is directed by Dagny Brandt, the Chorale, by Heidi Spotts-Manthey and the Chamber Singers, by Allen Redford.

The program will feature a wide variety of American musical genres, including spirituals, folk songs and art songs. Included will be a special presentation of "The Creation: A Rock Cantata," with soloists, combo and dancers. The program will culminate with a performance of "Alleluia," composed and accompanied by local composer Patrick Beckman, which also features the combined choirs.
