Three Cougars named to Academic All-American status

Three Highland sophomore student-athletes for the 2014-2015 academic year have been recognized as NJCAA Academic Student Athlete Award recipients based on their academic excellence. In order for student-athletes to qualify for this academic award, the individual must have accumulated 45 semester hours with a minimum 3.60 Grade Point Average.

The three Cougars that received the award are:

  •  Brett Brown of Elizabeth was awarded for his participation in baseball. He was recognize for Exemplary Academic Achievement and had an overall GPA of 3.60-3.79. He is now a student at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
  •  Susanna Thompson of Warren was awarded for her participation in softball. She was recognized for Superior Academic Achievement with a GPA of 3.80-3.99. She is continuing as a student in the nursing program at Highland.

  •  Adam Werntz of Freeport was recognized for his achievement in golf. He was recognized with Superior Academic Achievement with an overall GPA of 3.80-3.99. He is attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
