Highland Community College to host Black History Month celebration

In recognition of Black History Month, Highland Community College will sponsor a free and open to the public celebration beginning at 7 p.m. On Friday, February 5, on the second floor of the Student/Conference Center, room H-201.

This year's event will feature the music of Nastasia. Nastasia discovered her love for music through her local church. As a child, she was actively involved in musicals, church plays and sports. She attended a very prestigious private school that nurtured her musical gifts and talents and recognized that she was destined to do great things. Nastasia has worked with stellar award winning groups, multiple nationally and regionally known artist and producers.

In 2011, she was selected from thousands of contestants to be a part of the top 12 in BET'S music matter showcase in Los Angeles California. Known for her warm tone and signature arrangements, her sound has surely marked her as someone on the rise.

She has also lead worship for one of the largest youth ministries in the country and lead worship at conferences with speakers such as Kim Daniels and Apostle John Eckhart.

She has dedicated her life to the mission of empowering others and showing them that you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to. There will be a free reception following the program.

The program is sponsored by Highland Community College and Highland Community College Global Task Force.
