Foresight Financial Group Makes $75,000 Commitment in Support of HCC
4/11/2016

State Bank (Freeport), German-American State Bank, State Bank of Davis, and Lena State Bank - all member banks of Foresight Financial Group, Inc. - recently announced that they have made a combined pledge of $75,000 over five years in support of Highland Community College.

The dollars pledged will be split evenly each year between HCC's Advanced Manufacturing Program, which is currently in a period of expansion and revitalization, and the Highland Community College Foundation's Major Gifts Campaign, which supports the College's nursing and wind turbine technician facilities.

Aaron Sargent, Advanced Manufacturing instructor, notes, "We recently expanded our program offerings in this area to include both Industrial Manufacturing Technology and Mechatronics Technology, which blends the skillsets needed in the mechanical and electronic sides of the industry."  He adds, "Foresight's generous donation to our program will support the purchase of equipment needed to implement the curriculum so that our students will have the best preparation possible."

The portion of the donation that will go to the Major Gifts Campaign will also be put to very good use. Back in 2008, in order to keep up with workforce development needs in the areas of nursing, allied health, and wind turbine technology, HCC needed to proceed with construction of facilities for these programs before all of the funds were raised. Since then, the HCC Foundation has worked with the College to continue raising the funds to pay down the debt that was incurred for these capital projects.

As an added bonus, for 2016 and 2017, Foresight's dollars contributed toward the Major Gifts Campaign are eligible for matching through the Foundation's "Double Play" appeal, in effect doubling their dollar value and their impact.

Foresight Financial Group CEO Brent Myers states, "We are pleased to renew our organization's philanthropic pledge to Highland. We share HCC's goals of contributing to the economic development of the region and serving local residents in positive ways that enhance their quality of life."

Representatives of Foresight Financial Group recently visited the Danfoss Manufacturing Technology Center on the campus of Highland Community College, and were thanked in person for their recent pledge of support for the Advanced Manufacturing Program.  Pictured, L to R, are: Scott Anderson, dean of Business and Technology; Aaron Sargent, Advanced Manufacturing instructor; Cody Drake, student (working at a CNC machine); Kim Rampenthal, HCC Foundation; Jeff Sterling, German-American State Bank; Mary Hartman, State Bank; Cindy Martin, Lena State Bank; Chris Kuberski, HCC executive vice president.
