Please be aware of the following notification procedures in the event of a weather-related campus closure or  campus-wide class cancellation.

If the campus is closed (or classes are canceled) due to inclement weatherin the morning prior to the start of classes for the day, an automated broadcast telephone call will be used to communicate the announcement.

The call will be made to all students taking college credit classes at the primary telephone number on file with the College. Please check your ROAR account to be certain the College has an accurate phone number for you. If your phone number is incorrect, please email with the correct number, or stop by Admissions to update the number in person.

You may also choose to be notified by a text message to your mobile device via HCC Mobile Alerts — subscribe here. Additionally, an all-campus email will be sent via Highland email and notice will be posted on the homepage of

In the event that campus is closed (or classes are canceled)after classes have begun for the day, an announcement will be made via the campus PA system. An automated broadcast telephone call will be made to students taking college credit classes in the evening only.

Announcements regarding weather-related campus closures and class cancellations will be made via the College's main social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.

When the College is considering closing campus or canceling classes due to inclement weather, it is impossible to know the travel conditions in every area of the district. If the College is open, but you decide not to travel to campus due to unsafe conditions in your specific location, please notify the instructor(s) of the impacted class(es) as early as possible about your decision.

The following traditional media outlets will broadcast cancellation/closure announcements; however, be aware that messages released by these media are limited to very basic statements and that campus initiated messages will provide more complete and accurate information.
