Adult Education Classes Begin in September

Highland Community College�s Adult Education classes will begin the week of September 13th, 2010, on the Highland campus and at the outreach centers at HCC West, in Elizabeth, IL and the Mt. Morris Senior Center located in Mt. Morris, IL. The GED preparation site formally located at Savanna United Methodist Church has been relocated to HCC West in Elizabeth, IL. This change was necessary due to a cut in state funding.

Highland�s Adult Education program offers classes and services to help residents improve their lives and open opportunities for advancement. The Adult Education program offers a variety of classes. These classes include GED; Basic skills in reading, writing, and math; English as a Second Language (ESL); and short-term job training classes. Last year, Highland Community College served over 600 students and 113 completed their GED. Over 100 students strengthened their English skills with the English-as-a-Second Language classes.
