Highland Community College Receives Freeport Community Foundation grant for interactive technologies

Freeport -- Highland Community College received a $6,978 grant from the Freeport Community Foundation to install state-of-the-art technologies in select classrooms to provide enhanced real-time distance instruction resulting in even greater access to higher education for all. 

According to the grant application, "Access to Higher Education in Northwest Illinois has become more challenging. This project seeks to remove barriers by engaging partnerships with regional school districts in Stephenson, Jo Daviess, and Carroll counties to deliver college courses. The College is seeking to equip our classrooms and partnering high school classrooms with hardware and software systems to connect students and instructors for real-time instruction."

President of Highland Community College, Tim Hood, accepts the award for "Connecting Communities to Higher Education through Interactive Technologies" from Dan Schmitt, Executive Director of the Freeport Community Foundation.
