FREEPORT, IL — Highland Community College will host its annual Career Fair on Wednesday, November 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Sports Center and YMCA.

Formerly known as the “Job Fair,” this regional event has evolved into a collaborative effort to connect students and community members with local employers, while exploring pathways for lasting career success. In partnership with Freeport School District #145 and the Greater Freeport Partnership, the Career Fair bridges education and workforce development to strengthen northwest Illinois’ talent pipeline.

This year’s Career Fair will feature more than 40 employers representing a wide range of industries including healthcare, manufacturing, government, agriculture, law enforcement, education, and nonprofit services.

One participating employer shared after last year’s event, “We were better prepared knowing that we were not just recruiting immediate employees—this is really a student educational event.” That sentiment underscores the fair’s purpose: helping students and community members connect learning to real-world opportunities and build the skills needed for long-term success.

The event is free and open to the public, with more than 500 attendees expected, including high school students, Highland students, and job seekers from across the region.
