Join speaker Jenny L. Davis in a discussion about the histories and realities of Native Americans in Illinois. Davis will cover the presence Native Americans have had and continue to have across the state and her experience as a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation.
Davis is an associate professor of Anthropology and American Indian Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where she is the director of the American Indian Studies Program. She is the author of “Talking Indian: Identity and Language Revitalization in the Chickasaw Renaissance” (University of Arizona Press, 2018) and “Trickster Academy” (University of Arizona Press, forthcoming).
