This event led to the governor of Illinois calling out the state militia and the US Army sending troops to track down Black Hawk and his followers. The following months saw violence erupt between the Native Americans and the troops chasing them until the final battle at Bad Axe in August. This class will trace the history of the conflict between the Sauk and the settlers and follow the events of what came to be called the Black Hawk War.|

Terry Feinberg is a professional genealogist with a focus on genetic genealogy; a former professor of local government/Political Science; president of the Stephenson County Genealogical Society; editor of the Illinois State Genealogical Society Quarterly journal; and, has taught multiple programs/courses on genetic and other avenues of genealogy.
