Call for entries for Highland’s 51st District Juried Art Exhibit

Highland Community College has a call for entries for the 51st District Juried Art Exhibit, which will recognize and celebrate northwest Illinois artists. Work is due Jan. 30 from
9 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the west wing of the Ferguson Fine Arts Center, Highland Community College, 2998 W. Pearl City Rd., Freeport, Ill.

This exhibition is designed to recognize local artists in the district, and to celebrate their visual contribution to the community. Submission of works of art are open to all artists, ages 18 and older, residing in the Highland district, as well as all currently enrolled HCC students. Artists may submit up to three separate works of art with a nonrefundable fee of $3 per work. The entry form is available at highland.edu/finearts/highland-gallery/. The form and fee are due upon delivery of work.

“The dedicated artists from our district should be commended for their ability to encourage and support the arts; especially in a time where Fine Arts are increasingly challenged to defend their existence. Indeed, this exhibit symbolizes the importance and role of the arts as a symbol for the direction of any given community,” said Robert Apolloni, Highland Gallery director.

The exhibit will display in the Highland Gallery from Feb. 13 – Mar. 4 with an opening reception and awards presentation from 4:30 – 6 p.m. on Feb. 13. The event is free and open to the public.
