COVID-19 Update: First Campus Case

Dear Campus Community,

I want to share that we have had our first positive campus case of COVID-19. This student is quarantining at home.

Although this is our first case, I’m pleased to report because of you practicing social distancing, wearing a mask, and self-monitoring for symptoms, the Stephenson County Health Department was able to allow for the two classes that the student attends on campus to continue meeting. This first case occurring after 6-weeks into the semester, could not have been accomplished without everyone’s (students, faculty, and staff) hard work to keep our campus safe.

You may stay current on our campus positive cases from our COVID-19 Dashboard at highland.edu/covid19dashboard. The data reported is based on the Illinois Community College Board’s recommendation of students and employees who have been on campus. The Dashboard updates on Mondays or when we have a reported positive campus case. Please visit the web page for further information on reporting and contact tracing.

As we continue to see a rise in cases across the HCC district, let us stay the course with our campus guidelines. Thank you for masking-up, Cougars!
