Dear Students,
Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health announced that our state would go into Tier 3 mitigations starting on Friday, November 20. When our region or state changes guidance around the pandemic, our emergency operations team evaluates our current campus practice, makes adjustments as needed, and communicates any guidance to you.
After reviewing the added mitigations, there is minimal impact to Highland Community College. The Tier 3 guidance says: “School districts and local officials should follow extensive guidance released by IDHP and ISBE in August and make decisions related to in-person and remote learning at the local level, based on the unique needs of their communities.”
We are at the tail-end of the semester and will continue to offer you courses and services in the safest way possible.
Most classes that use a lecture format have already moved into the virtual meeting format. Courses that need labs and other hands-on training will still meet on campus while practicing our safety precautions of wearing a mask, social distancing, not coming to campus if you are waiting for a COVID-19 test, feeling ill, or are under a required quarantine.
All Student Services are still available. The bookstore, admissions, and financial aid offices are accessible in person or remotely and the cafeteria is open for regular hours. All the buildings remain open, just the same as before. However, you may want to call your advisor before stopping in.
