COVID Update: Phase 4 Mitigations

Dear Students,
I hope you are all enjoying the semester! I wanted to send an update on our campus precautions since our region recently moved into Phase 4. When our region or state changes guidance around the pandemic, our emergency operations team evaluates our current campus practice, makes adjustments as needed, and communicates any guidance to you.

After reviewing the added mitigations, there is minimal impact to Highland Community College. However, Phase 4 guidance does adjust the limit for gatherings (other than classroom) to 50 people or 50% of room capacity, whichever is fewer.

Most classes this semester that use a lecture format are already offered virtually. Courses that need labs and other hands-on training will still meet on campus while practicing our safety precautions of wearing a mask, social distancing, not coming to campus if you are waiting for a COVID-19 test result because you are feeling ill, or are under quarantine. If you have been vaccinated for COVID-19, please remember to continue to wear your mask and maintain distance until the state guidance has changed.

All Student Services are still available. Admissions and financial aid offices are accessible in person or remotely. The cafeteria and bookstore are open. All the buildings remain open, just the same as before.

Thank you for helping to keep our campus safe. Your careful adherence to the campus guidance has allowed us to remain open and operating. Keep up the hard work!

Take care of yourselves,
President Kuberski
