COVID-19 Vaccinate or Test Weekly (Update)
Dear Students,
On August 27, the College sent an email with information about the vaccine or test mandate issued by the Illinois Governor. The mandate requires all faculty, staff, and students in higher education in Illinois to either be vaccinated or complete a weekly COVID-19 screening test. Everyone on campus must continue to socially distance, wear a mask, and self-monitor for COVID-19. Please do not come to campus if you are ill or have symptoms.
The College is working on the processes to collect COVID-19 vaccination information. More information about vaccination record collection will be available soon. The College is also working with SHIELD Illinois to provide on-campus screening tests. These tests are saliva tests and take just a few minutes to complete. It takes about 24 hours for you to get the results, and you can attend classes and be on-campus while you wait on test results. The testing process will be as convenient as possible and communicated to you as soon as possible.
Please understand that the College is working as quickly as possible to get all of these steps in place. Illinois colleges became aware of the mandate at the same time it was announced publicly, so there are quite a few details to be completed. You may continue to come to campus for classes, work, and other reasons until the processes are set up for you.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are available on the website. If your question cannot be answered by the FAQs, you can submit student questions to liz.gerber@highland.edu.
