Did you know September is National Preparedness Month? While no one likes to imagine worst-case scenarios, it’s wise to plan ahead so you can handle emergencies confidently.
Here’s how Highland can help you stay safe:
- Check out our campus emergency guide, which covers need-to-know information.
- Read alerts sent to all students and employees, which you will receive via call or text!
- Check Remind notifications to ensure your phone number is up-to-date in the system.
- Make note of emergency phones and instructions in classrooms and common areas.
- Familiarize yourself with the informational posters and maps located in all classrooms.
- Participate in mandatory drills being conducted at various times during the semester.
Lastly, nationally utilized ALICE training is being offered to all Highland employees once again this fall. ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training is intended to prepare individuals to handle the threat of a violent offender. Web-based training is now available via an email you received from Navigate360 (noreply@navigate360.com), with a link and login instructions for the approximate 45-minute web-based module. In-person training will be offered in the spring.
Thank you for doing your part to protect yourself and our campus community. If you have questions about being ready for emergencies, please contact the on-campus Sheriff’s Deputy at 815-599-3652.
