
What You’ll Learn: Commercial Applicator I
During the Commercial Applicator I Certificate Program you’ll learn the basics of crop production and receive hands-on instruction on equipment operation and maintenance. With this foundational knowledge, you’ll be able to pass the Illinois Pesticide Operator License exam and be ready for an entry-level position as a chemical operator or to continue your studies with the Commercial Applicator II Certificate Program. During this advanced study, you’ll take a deeper dive into soil science, crop production and agricultural technology. You’ll have direct work experience that will allow you to obtain advanced-level employment with an agricultural crop supply company. You will also be prepared to pass the Commercial Pesticide Applicator License exam with Field Crop category credentials.
Upon completion of the Certificate I program you will be able to:
- Utilize spray application equipment and technology
- Study production practices of corn, soybeans and forage
- Use troubleshooting techniques to solve common mechanical failures
- Secure a Commercial Pesticide Operator License
