What You’ll Learn
As a student in Highland Community College’s Mass Communication program, you will benefit from exposure to the wide range of disciplines within the field while gaining practical skills and deep industry connections.
Designed for students intending to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program, you will have the option to choose a curriculum emphasis in public relations and marketing, multimedia journalism or multimedia production.
Whether you are interested in design, writing or production, HCC offers ample hands-on experience, including access to the full Adobe software suite and to our newly renovated television studio. Our state-of-the-art facility replicates the studio format of Allen Media Broadcasting, which owns more than 10 affiliate stations throughout the Midwest. And with a camera for every three students, you are certain to complete the program with the know-how to enter upper-level classes at a four-year college or university.
HCC is uniquely situated within four media markets — Rockford, Madison, Quad Cities, and Dubuque Waterloo — and our faculty will help you leverage their connections to secure networking opportunities, paid internships and future jobs.
