Dear Students:
First off, I want to recognize all of your hard work throughout this year! Your dedication and drive did not go unnoticed.
Class of 2021, you did it! These last years have taken extra determination and focus. You have proven to yourself and your family, friends, instructors, and advisors that nothing can stop you from success. You demonstrated grit and just kept swimming.
Today, I wanted to share that we have decided to move our in-person commencement ceremony to a virtual celebration. Although we considered outside on campus, we cannot guarantee the weather, state capacity guidance, or social distancing. As we know, you and your loved ones are looking forward to celebrating your accomplishments at Highland, the decision does not come easy.
To capture your glowing success, we will have a professional photographer with backdrop and lighting at cap and gown pick-up on April 30. We will use this photo for the virtual ceremony that will post on May 22 at highland.edu and on Facebook. Please, watch your mailbox for all the details; letters are being sent out this week.
If you have decided not to participate, we will make sure you receive your diploma. Rest assured, your status is not altered. If you complete the degree or certificate requirements, you will graduate and receive the appropriate credential in May. Your standard graduation fee, which you already paid, covers the cost of processing these materials. Your transcript will reflect the completion, and you will join the thousands of HCC Alumni!
Your determination is recognized and celebrated. Be proud, as we are, of what you have accomplished. I congratulate you on your success!
Sincerely,
Christina Kuberski, President
