Career Services Blog: When I Grow Up

So, what do you want to be when you grow up?

Almost all of us have heard that question before, maybe on the first day of Kindergarten or maybe a few weeks ago at a holiday gathering when you sat next to Aunt Tracy! It’s such a broad question, especially to someone who embraced their first semester of college and is just grateful that they survived the semester in one piece. Instead of that cliché inquiry, Career Services at Highland asks, “what impact do you want to make in your community?” That question could also be challenging to answer! Hopefully, it makes you stop and think about your goals (you know, instead of wishing you could go back to the kids’ table to get away from Aunt Tracy and her questions!)

Undecided? You’re not alone! Maybe you have a career in mind but aren’t sure how to get there. That’s where Career Services comes in to help! Not only can we sit down and look over your resume, but we can also talk about what is drawing you toward a career path and the impact you’d like to make.

Many of your classmates have learned more about themselves, their skills, likes, and interests after sitting down with Career Services. Many have even talked to their instructors and advisors about changing their major and career path! Make an appointment today and join us in a safe space to discover, explore, make sound choices, and launch your career!

Career Services at Highland is open to current students, alumni, and community members.
