COVID-19 Update 3/22/21

Dear Students,

Governor Pritzker recently announced an update to the Restore Illinois plan. When our region or state changes guidance around the pandemic, our emergency operations team evaluates our current campus practice, makes adjustments as needed, and communicates any guidance to you.

On Friday, Governor Pritzker announced a metrics-based pathway toward Phase 5 of his mitigation plan. This Bridge to Phase 5 will help us enter the final phase of the Restore Illinois reopening plan, in which all sectors of the economy can reopen and normal operations can resume. Today, our entire state remains in Phase 4 mitigations. We are reviewing the Bridge phase and will update you as we learn how this impacts the College.

In the meantime, we will continue practicing our safety precautions of wearing a mask, social distancing, not coming to campus if you are waiting for a COVID-19 test, feeling ill, or are under a required quarantine. Those who have already been vaccinated for COVID-19 need to continue to wear a mask and maintain social distance until the state guidance has changed.

As a reminder, you can reference all of our campus guidance at highland.edu/hcc-advisory.

Thank you for helping to keep our campus safe. Your careful adherence to the campus guidance has allowed us to remain open and operating. Keep up the hard work!
