Recently, the Board recently approved a change to Policy 4.095, Vacation Leave that allows carry over of up to 20 vacation days into the next fiscal year for administrative employees and full-time classified or professional employees after 15 years of employment.  Full-time classified or professional employee with up to 15 years of employment may carry over up to 10 vacation days into the next fiscal year.

A regular part-time employee with up to 15 years of employment working 32 hours per week but less than 40, may carry over up to eight vacation days.  A part-time employee after 15 years of employment working 32 hours per week but less than 40, may carry over up to 16 vacation days into the next fiscal year.

Sick Leave

Full-time classified, administrative and professional employees accrue one sick leave day per month (12 days per year).  Part-time classified/non-exempt professional employees who work 20 hours or more per week earn 12 pro-rated sick days based on the number of hours worked per week.

At the beginning of each academic year, full-time faculty receive 12 days of sick leave.  A faculty member eligible for sick leave may earn one day of sick leave per month for summer school.  No individual may earn more than 14 days sick leave per fiscal year. See section VI, A of the Faculty Agreement for additional information.

There is no limit on the number of sick days that an employee can carry over from one fiscal year to the next.

Personal Leave Days

Each full-time college administrative, professional or classified employee earns three paid personal leave days per fiscal year, accrued one-half day every two months, specifically for the purpose of completing personal business. Unused personal leave days cannot be rolled from one fiscal year to the next.

Four days of personal leave per year are available for all full-time faculty members (Faculty Agreement, VI, H1).  A faculty member may convert four earned, unused personal leave days to sick leave.  No individual may be credited with more than 16 days of sick leave per contractual year if converting earned, unused personal days (Faculty Agreement, VI, A3).  Currently, there is a Memorandum of Understanding in placement allowing for faculty and custodial/maintenance employees to rollover unused personal days into FY24 for use through academic year 2024/2025.
