Highland Community College Theatre Arts program presents “The Crucible,” by Arthur Miller for the fall 2017 theatre production. Performance dates are Thursday, October 5 and Friday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 7 at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre located in the Ferguson Fine Arts Center.

“The Crucible” is a powerful drama about the Salem Witch Trials. It is an exciting piece of theatre and a cautionary tale about the degrees of gossip and demonizing one’s fellow man. “The Crucible” is a riveting play in which no one in the town of Salem is safe from accusation and a painful end.

“This play is a powerful reminder of the dangers of gossip and false accusations. What we say about others can be powerful forces for good, or they can be weapons of hurt and destruction,” Laura Early, Theatre Arts instructor said.  “I am excited to work with a cast of more than 20 Highland students. Many of the members of the cast are new to the Highland stage. I am fortunate to have many new talented theatre students this year. Several of them I saw performing on their high school stages. Adisyn Hoff won a Voices Award for her outstanding performance at Lena-Winslow High School. We also have the very talented Tommy Tempel and Sydney Mitchell from Freeport High School, and very accomplished cast members from Forreston, Stockton, and Eastland-Pearl City. These new students will join some amazingly skilled returning students in the cast.”
