The Highland Big Band will perform a Salute to Our Veterans concert on Sunday, Nov. 11 at Masonic Temple, 305 W. Stephenson St., Freeport, Ill.
The performance is set up USO style through the different theaters of war starting with 1918-1927, 1941-1956, and then 1965-present. The band will play music from the different eras that played to troops, medical staffs, and all who served overseas.
The concert will feature three vocalists (John Hartman, Erin Schrader, and Grant Dawson) as well as numerous soloists like Gary Besley, Chris Korf, John Hanson, and Vicki Hastings. There will also be monologues in the Bob Hope-style to fit the time period.
Music being played will include Jelly Roll Morton, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Peggy Lee, Stan Kenton, Michael Buble, Paul McCartney and Wings, Edgar Winter Group and more.
