[Freeport, IL] – Highland Community College (HCC) Board of Trustees approved multiple Articulation Agreements with Illinois State University (ISU) during their February 18 board meeting.

The Articulation Agreements affect programs including Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education Specialist in Learning and Behavior, and Special Education Specialist in Learning and Behavior Online (PULSE).

The purpose of the agreements is to create a smooth transfer process, minimize duplication of instruction and build on student learning experiences for those transferring from HCC to ISU.

HCC Advisor and Transfer Coordinator Vicki Schulz said, “Illinois State University is a great school for HCC students to transfer to.  With these agreements, students can achieve a degree by completing many of their classes at HCC and then transferring to complete a Bachelor’s degree seamlessly.”

Students will be admitted to ISU as long as they have completed the required credits at HCC and meet all ISU program admission criteria, including cumulative GPA, and submit a transfer application by May 1 for start of classes during the fall term, and November 1 for the start of the spring term.

These Articulation Agreements are made possible through the recent $30,000 grant from Grow Your Own-Illinois, awarded to HCC to recruit and support future educators.

The agreements are set to run for the next five years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional five-year term.
