HCC Foundation holds Legacy Gala October 2: Honors Marjorie Phillips with Lifetime Achievement Award

The Highland Community College Foundation’s annual Legacy Gala is on Saturday, Oct. 2. The evening highlights the presentation of the HCC Delbert Scheider Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award honors an individual who has made a lasting impact on Highland Community College and its success, and this year is being awarded to Marjorie Phillips, Highland Foundation board member, and first-ever Highland College scholarship donor.

The Legacy Gala begins at 4:30 p.m. with cocktails, and a silent auction with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m. Registration is now open at https://one.bidpal.net/hccgala21 or by phone at 815-599-3413. Funds raised from the Legacy Gala are directed to the highest and greatest needs of the College.

Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Candice King, an alum of Highland Community College, is the guest host for the Gala. Entertainment will be provided by the HCC Music department.

“The Highland Community College Foundation’s annual gala is an event that celebrates what we share gather to share, our college, our community, and our future,” said Jeff Reinke, Highland Community College Foundation Executive Director. “The goal of the Legacy Gala is to highlight Highland programs while engaging alums and corporations throughout the district.”

At the Legacy Gala, the HCC Foundation will recognize individuals and corporate partners who demonstrate a shared responsibility in transforming students’ lives through an accessible, affordable, and rigorous learning experience. The fundraising event continues with the traditional dinner, entertainment, silent auction as well as the $5,000 in five minutes for the H.O.P.E. student emergency fund.
