HCC Foundation promises a night of ‘fun and games’ with Shindig VII: Monopoly

The Highland Community College Foundation presents Shindig VII: Monopoly, a fundraising event in support of Highland Community College, on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

The silent auction will begin at 5 p.m., and the live auction is set for at 7 p.m. with auctioneer and Highland nursing program alumnus, Doug Munda, seeking out the highest bidders.

Shindig VII: Monopoly tickets are $75 per person, and include a specialty drink token, food, beer, wine, and soft drinks, as well as musical entertainment and more. Sponsors and donated auction items will receive special recognition. For tickets and sponsorship/donation information, call 815.599.3413 or go to highland.thankyou4caring.org.

Steve and Beverly Chesney are this year’s host and hostess on their property strategically located on “Park Place.” “Our Shindig Committee is turning Steve and Beverly’s property into a very special game board that will keep our guests entertained all night,” stated Jim Berberet, HCC Foundation executive director. “Guests will have the opportunity to view property cards, move their tokens, socialize at the Water Works, and watch out for Officer Mallory as he looks to add to his jail. And there will be ‘Free Parking’ too.”

Todd and Glena Weegens are opening their nearby “Weegens Gardens” for guests to tour. Cost is $5 (payable at the Shindig) and includes a specialty drink of Glena’s creation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase both “Chance” and “Community Chest” cards. “Chance” cards can be purchased to win a prize or gift basket, whereas “Community Chest” cards provide opportunities to donate to HCC’s Student Emergency Fund, which assists students in need of short-term assistance to continue their program.

Catered again this year by Troy and Donna Lessman, the menu will include a selection of “Tennessee Street Ribs,” “Monopoly Mashed Potatoes,” Asian Salad served on “Oriental Avenue,” “Build Your Own Hotdogs” on “Boardwalk,” and much more. Live music will be provided before and after the Shindig by Trinadora.
