Highland Community College is holding a Part-time Instructor Job Fair on Wednesday, October 25, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Student/Conference Center on the Highland campus.
HCC is seeking qualified exceptional part-time instructors to teach in a variety of capacities, including college-credit courses and classes offered through the Business Institute, Lifelong Learning, and Adult Education.
There is particular demand for part-time faculty to teach college-level courses in areas such as biology, chemistry, rhetoric and composition, transitional-level writing, journalism (multi-media platforms), mathematics, and equipment maintenance skills.
Teaching college-level courses requires that the instructor holds a master’s degree in the subject area being taught or a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the relevant content area.
There is also a need for transitional reading and writing instructors for courses such as Basic College Reading, College Reading Foundations, College Reading Strategies, and Basic Written Communication. A master’s degree is preferred in order to teach these transitional courses.
The Business Institute has a need for short-term, contract instructors for customized training in pneumatics, programmable logic controllers, robotics, mechanical maintenance, Quickbooks, sales, and strategic planning.
