Tamales
Location: St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1010 S. Park Blvd., Freeport, Ill.

Tamales begin with a dough made from masa, mixed with lard or vegetable shortening, then wrapped in corn husks or plantain leaves, then steamed. The region determines if corn husks or plantain leaves would be used. Please bring dishes to take food home in.

The discussion includes the different animals encountered, including kangaroos, wombats, koalas, rainbow lorikeets, spiders, snakes, and crocodiles. Life at work, at home, and at school; major attractions in Australia; and some of the differences in language and sports will also be discussed.

Learn how three dimensional solid objects are created as a digital file and then printed as a 3D model. The course will summarize the features of several types of 3D printers and how these printers are utilized in homes and businesses. Watch a 3D printer in action and better understand the programming used to create the object.

How often should you check for viruses and malware? How does a computer behave if infected? How do you prevent it? Learn how to check your own computer for viruses, malware, how to keep your computer protected at all times, and signs your computer infection signs.
Maintaining Your Car-Checking Oil, Tires, Etc.

What types of fluids are needed and the service intervals recommended for vehicle longevity are topics covered in this class. Lab tasks will allow participants to become familiar with the under hood layout of their vehicle and basic maintenance procedures. The first part of the class will be classroom and the second part will be hands-on tasks in the lab. Bring your car and comfortable clothes.

She has experienced New Mexico’s geological sites; New Orleans’ history and music; canoeing on southern Illinois’ Cache River wetlands; Puerto Rico’s art, nature, and culture; a Door County culinary adventure; and a creative writer’s workshop in Green Lake, Wisconsin.
