Cajun Cuisine II
Location: St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1010 S. Park Blvd., Freeport, Ill.

Intro to Shield Metal Arc Welding
Location: Highland Community College, Building T, room T-129

Commonly known as stick welding, learn how to set the voltage for the different size of electrodes, the proper angle to hold the electrode holder, the proper safety equipment, and what tools are needed. This is a hands-on class, please dress appropriately to work in a shop, including long sleeves, long pants, closed toe shoes, and no loose clothing. Eye protection is provided.
3D Printing-ACLPOA
Location: Apple Canyon Lake Property Owner’s Club, 157 Canyon Club Dr., Apple River, Ill.

Learn how three dimensional solid objects are created as a digital file and then printed as a 3D model. Watch a 3D printer in action and better understand the programming used to create the object. The course will also summarize the features of several types of 3D printers and how these printers are being utilized in homes and businesses.
Card Making A

Create your own greeting cards and paper projects. Each class will create three to four projects using new tools and many different card folds. No project is duplicated. Required materials include adhesive, precision scissors, ruler, and pencil. A $25.00 materials fee is also paid to the instructor on the first night covers all materials for the four weeks. This class is for the beginner or experienced crafter.
Keeping Your Computer Clean and Healthy

Viruses, malware, and social engineering are all concerns when we go on the Internet. But did you know the average computer keyboard and smartphone have more germs than the average toilet seat? This session will examine cleaning the physical aspects of your computers and devices, as well as maintaining safe and secure environment.
Intro to Mig Welding

Mig Welding is one of the most common types of welding. Learn to set the wire speed, voltage, see five different weld joints, and four different weld positions. This fact-based, non-partisan 3-hour seminar is divided into two chapters with an intermission. Ample time will be provided to the audience for question and answer, and discussion. This one-time class looks at the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. It first looks at U.S. culture in 1963, a brief biography of JFK, and of Lee Harvey Oswald. It then covers the details leading up to November 22, 1963, at the Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. It covers the capture and fate of Oswald and the hospitalization and funeral of JFK. The current status of Dealey Plaza and the gravesite of JFK are also explored.

BASSET Certification

This training satisfies the BASSET training requirement for the state of Illinois. Evan Talbert, Highland Community College Hospitality Instructor, will cover the physical properties of alcohol, prevention and intervention, state and local statutes and DUI, identification techniques, and dram shop and liability coverage. Ogle and Stephenson counties are mandated to be in compliance by July 1, 2017. Jo Daviess and Carroll are mandated to be in compliance by July 1, 2018.
