Highland’s TRIO Student Support Services will be able to continue services to students through Project Succeed after receiving a $344,538 grant annually for five years that will allow the program to continue.
“TRIO Project Succeed is excited about our grant selection for funding,” said Anthony Sago, Director of TRIO Services. “This five-year grant allows us to continue to invest in our students and believe in their potential to overcome obstacles. Our program activities are designed to motivate and support all active 275 students from diverse backgrounds in their pursuit of a college degree.”
Since the late 1980s, Project Succeed has played a major role in the lives of underrepresented, first-generation, and low-income students. It also makes a significant contribution to the college’s retention and completion rate.
TRIO and Project Succeed is a federally funded academic retention program designed to enhance the academic success, retention, and academic goal completion of Project Succeed students. Each participant receives ongoing individual attention and support by meeting with a coordinator to discuss goals and develop a strategy for success. Project Succeed is a team of individuals dedicated to helping participants achieve educational goals.
The TRIO program at Highland Community College continues to open doors of opportunity for students to gain access to higher education regardless of race, ethnicity, or culture.
