HCC’s monthly Ag Club meeting showcases career opportunities for students

Students involved in the Highland Community College Agriculture Club recently had the opportunity to hear from members of the local agri-business community to discuss internships, career options, and general company information.

Twenty-five agriculture students listened to Pennie Groezinger, Human Resources Manager, and Credit Manager, and Ed Shau, Office Manager, from Pearl City Elevator, who spoke about career opportunities at the business located in Pearl City.

“It is very exciting that local businesses like Pearl City Elevator offer great career opportunities and are actively recruiting Highland Community College students,” said Justin Ebert, Agriculture instructor at Highland.

Pearl City Elevator (PCE) is a successful cooperative that offers a quality product line that includes chemicals, fertilizer, feed, petroleum, and propane that helps increase the profitability of farming in this area. PCE serves northwest Illinois and southern Wisconsin with offices in Pearl City, McConnell, Dakota, Warren, Baileyville, and Lena.
