Hold Your Horses, HCC Foundation’s Shindig VIII is September 29

The Highland Community College Foundation presents Shindig VIII: At the Stables, a fundraising event in support of Highland Community College on Saturday, Sept. 29, west of Freeport. This year’s host is Oak Ridge Arabian Stables.

The silent auction will begin at 5 p.m., and a live auction will begin at 7:45 p.m. with auctioneer and Highland nursing program alumnus, Doug Munda, seeking out the highest bidders. New this year to the Shindig is the implementation of mobile bidding. Organizers say to have the phone charged and ready to go. The online bidding starts Sept. 24 at www.bidpal.net/shindig.

Shindig VIII: At the Stables tickets are $75 per person, and include a specialty drink token, food, beer, wine, and soft drinks. The musical entertainment from Jason McNabb & The Reign will round off the evening. For tickets and sponsorship/donation information, call 815-599-3413 or go to highland.edu/foundation.

“The Shindig fundraising event has a long history of tremendous support from our donors and our community members. It is with that great support that we are able to provide Highland Community College with the needed resources to help shape the future of our communities by providing quality education and learning opportunities,” said Jeff Reinke, HCC Foundation Executive Director.

Attendees have the opportunity to bring out their favorite western attire and have a chance to view Arabian horses at Oak Ridge Arabian Stables. Remember to wear closed-toe shoes or boots as the event is held on sawdust for the evening festivities.

Catering is theme-specific fare from Three-Headed Monster, and there will also be mouth-watering desserts. Whiskey and wine pulls feature high-end liquors and wines. Guests are invited to take a Clydesdale-drawn wagon ride tour of the property between 5 and 7 p.m.

Seating is limited. To purchase tickets visit bidpal.net/shindig or for more information call 815-599-3413 or go to highland.edu/foundation.
