Lifelong Learning to offer summer camps for ages 8 to 18

Lifelong Learning will provide a summer filled with camps for children and older youth that include STEM computer programming and game creation, plus theatre, comedy improvisation and auditioning skills workshops for kids at Highland Community College located 2998 W. Pearl City Rd., Freeport, Ill.

Camps are:

Summer Theatre Day Camps

Location: Ferguson Fine Arts Center

Registration Deadline: June 1; Instructor: Laura Early

Explore the world of comedy improvisation by playing fun and active improvisation games geared to help gain confidence and think on your feet. Participants will develop auditioning skills and confidence speaking in public with activities and tips for successful theatre, film, and television auditions.

Comedy Improvisation and Auditioning Skills for Middle School Students ages 10 to 13

Class Date: Saturday, June 22; Class Time: 10 a.m. to Noon; Fee: $14

Comedy Improvisation and Audition Techniques for High School Students ages 14 to 18

Class Date: Saturday, June 29; Class Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Fee: $19

The class will include a session on acting resumes and other special acting tips. Bring a sack lunch.

Creative Tech Camps for Kids for ages 8 to 14

Location: Dorothy and RC Clock Technology Center, room T-159, Registration Deadline: At least one week prior to camp start; Camp Dates: Each camp has listed dates; Instructor: Doug Meyers; Class Time: 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday; Fee: $150

Class Dates: June 17 – June 21

Make Your First 3D Video Game

Choose from two sessions: June 24 – June 28 or August 12 – August 16

Learn how to create an immersive 3D world. Students will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling the flow of gameplay, and storytelling.

Python Programmers

Class Date: July 8 – July 12

Learn the world’s fastest growing programming language favored by Google, NASA, Youtube, and the CIA. Learn Python coding.

Minecraft© Modders

Class Date: July 15 – July 19

Learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods!

App.IO: Make Your First Multiplayer App

Class Date: July 22 – July 26

Battle Royale: Make Your First Fortnite® Style Video Game

Class Date: July 29 – August 2
