Highland Community College Lifelong Learning March courses include Instant Pot Dinners, Introduction to QuickBooks, Curls for Girls, Spring Silk Floral Wreaths, and World War II in Europe and North Africa held in-person and online. Courses being held in person will be practicing social distancing and masks will be required. Others have the option to attend through Zoom™. Instant Pot Dinners

Location: Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church, 8210 E. Edwardsville Rd., German Valley, Ill.

Class: March 2; 6:30 — 8:30 p.m.

Fee: $29

Instructor: Jana Schlukebir

Learn how to safely use an Instant Pot to get delicious, one-pot dinners on the table quickly. Various techniques will be covered and new recipes can be taken home. Attendees have the opportunity to sample everything prepared, so come hungry.

Introduction to QuickBooks

Location: Highland Community College, (Building T), room T-159, 2998 W. Pearl City Rd., Freeport, Ill.

Learn about the differences between the desktop and online versions of QuickBooks, how to enter data, an introduction to payroll capabilities, bank reconciliations, roles of MyAccountant, and an overview of reports.

Curls for Girls

Location: Highland Community College, (Building T), room T-133 HCC Salon, 2998 W. Pearl City Rd., Freeport, Ill.

Learn how to curl hair for family gatherings, special occasions, or just every day. Register with a child to practice in class.  Manikins will be available. Class size is limited.

Spring Silk Floral Wreaths

Location: Clara Joyce Flowers, 13493 East Blair Hill Rd., Stockton, Ill.

Fee: $60

Instructor: Drew Groezinger

Learn how to make a faux flower wreath on a metallic hoop base. Attendees will make a wreath to take home at the end of the workshop. All materials provided.

World War II in Europe and North Africa

Location: Highland Community College, Student/Conference Center (Building H), room H-127, 2998 W. Pearl City Rd., Freeport, Ill., or through Zoom

Take a closer look at World War II in Europe and North Africa. This course will cover the cultural background of Germany before the war and the events that led to the Nazi attack on Poland. Battles in Dunkirk, Britain, Russia, North Africa, and Sicily are covered, as well as the Battle of the Bulge and
D-Day.
