‘From Stage to Screen’ vocal music performance comes to HCC stage

FREEPORT — The Highland Community College Royal Scots, Chamber Singers, Highland Youth Choir and Highland Chorale are coming together for a night of music with fun From Stage to Screen at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Fine Arts Theatre in the Ferguson Fine Arts Center on the Highland campus.

For more than 20 years, the Highland Choral Music department has been entertaining audiences with selections from Broadway, and this year, musical selections have been added from some well-known movies. This years program promises to continue the legacy of strong performances with highlights from popular music groups to show-stopping medleys from musicals.

The Highland Chorale, under the direction of Heidi Spotts-Manthey, will feature medleys with featured selections by the Bee Gees and The Beach Boys. Nadia Wirchnianski will be the accompanist.

The Royal Scots performance will feature tight harmonies and musical selections from “The Lion King” and the “Peanuts” television specials. Jeffrey DeLay is the director, and the accompanist is Heidi Spotts-Manthey.

The Chamber Singers, under the direction of Jeffrey DeLay and accompanied by Heidi Spotts-Manthey, will deliver selections from “West Side Story.”

The Highland Youth Choir is under the direction of Dagny Brandt, and they will perform music from “Cinderella,” and a medley of “Songs that Stopped the Show.”
