Dear HCC Community,

We hope this communication finds you safe and healthy. Students, we hope that you are managing this disruption and making the transition to remote learning successfully. Please continue to reach out, and we will do our best to support you and your learning.

We recognize that this semester has not gone as originally planned. There have been unexpected changes and heightened challenges in every aspect of our lives. While we are working diligently to deliver the high-quality instruction and student services that we value, we are keenly aware that this disruption has caused stress and uncertainty. Given the ripple effects of the COVID-19 outbreak, we believe it is appropriate to provide additional safeguards for students. Therefore, HCC is postponing the final withdraw date and offering students the option of changing a letter grade to an “S” (satisfactory) or “NCC” (No Credit Covid) for the Spring 2020 semester. It is important that you read and understand the accompanying guidance when making a decision about your grades. Additional information regarding grades for the General Education IAI courses is also attached.

Students, please reach out to your advisor as soon as possible if you have any questions regarding this guidance. The process itself will be explained in a future communication.

This guidance reflects the contributions of faculty, academic advisors, deans, administrators and staff who worked collaboratively to provide a student-centered approach to an unprecedented situation. We are appreciative of their efforts.

Stay healthy and finish the semester strong,

Chris Kuberski

Executive Vice President/Chief Academic Officer
