COVID-19 Update 8/27/21

Please see the message below from President Kuberski.
Good-afternoon,

On Thursday, Governor JB Pritzker announced the COVID-19 vaccine requirement for higher education personnel and students. When our region or state changes guidance around the pandemic, our emergency management team evaluates our current campus practice, makes adjustments as needed, and communicates any guidance to you.

Today, we were in communications with the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB), Shield Illinois, and the Stephenson County Health Department regarding the announcement.

The vaccinate or test mandate includes all employees and in-person students.

On Wednesday, September 1, from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., the health department and IDPH will host an on-campus vaccination clinic. If this date or time does not work for you, other vaccination resources are available in our district. Click here to find a vaccination site near you.

We are working to arrange on-campus testing through Shield Illinois for those unable or unwilling to get vaccinated. This screening process will be made as convenient as possible.

As a reminder, we have required masks in all our campus buildings since June 2020. Therefore, the new mask mandate does not impact Highland since we already required face coverings.

Please continue to watch your Highland email for further guidance and updates.
Thank you for your continued effort to keep Highland safe.

Sincerely,
Chris Kuberski
