The tradition of high-quality student-athletes participating in Cougar athletic programs continued in 2016-2017. Eight Highland Community College students were named Academic Student-Athlete Award recipients by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Receiving second team honors with a GPA of 3.80-3.99 are:

Receiving third team honors (3.60-3.79 GPA) are:
